Teodora Stoyanova
Teodora Stoyanova, described as “an exciting, vibrant, expressive and inspiring flautist”, has maintained a wide and varied career as a performer and educator in Europe and the United States. She believes that music is an integral part of life and loves sharing her knowledge with her students, exploring different styles and genres, while also working as a musician on projects that combine different forms of art such as poetry, theatre, and dance.
Her recent projects in Europe have included recitals as a member of the Trio Aquamarine with whom she has performed at London’s Westminster Library; St John the Baptist Church, Wimbledon; and the Embassy of Bulgaria in London; and as a concerto soloist with Shumen Symphony Orchestra at the Pancho Vladigerov House Museum in Shumen, Bulgaria.
Since moving to Atlanta, Georgia, she has collaborated and performed as a concerto soloist and principal flautist with DaSalo Solisti Chamber Orchestra, Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra, Northeast Atlanta Ballet, Capital City Opera, and as a chamber musician with Aulos Wind Quintet and Atlanta Flute Ensemble. Along with Dr José Garcia and Gwinnett Symphony Jazz Orchestra, she has performed in many concerts and is featured in recordings.
Her latest project is with La Candela Flamenco company with whom she has performed at Roswell Art Center in collaboration with the Latin American Association in Atlanta, and in touring in the US.
Equally passionate about teaching, Teodora has amassed considerable experience as an educator. She was a teacher at the National Music school in Sofia and an assistant of Prof Lidia Oshavkova at the National Music Academy in the Bulgarian capital. She has been a faculty member for many years at New School of Music, a leading institution in the state of Georgia, while also maintaining her private studio. Her students’ successes have seen them as frequent finalists in state and national competitions.
She obtained her master’s degree in music performance from the Prof Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia, studying with Prof Oshavkova, and attended master classes with Alexandre Maghin, András Adorján, and Emmanuel Pahud.
She has taken part in many competitions, winning awards including first prize at the Svetoslav Obretenov National Competition and a special prize in the international competition Music and Earth.
Before moving to the United States, she performed and toured in Eastern and Western Europe as a soloist with Collegium Musicum chamber orchestra-Bankia (a predecessor component of Sinfonietta Sofia), Vidin Symphony Orchestra, and as a member of Electroacoustic Music Ensemble. Her orchestral experience has included work with the Academic Orchestra of the National Academy of Music and Vidin Symphony Orchestra.
She is a member of the National Flute Association and the Atlanta Flute Club.
